R&D Tax Credit

If you live in the United States and feel like being a concerned citizen (or more importantly you’re an ISV), take a moment to write your congressman about the R&D Tax Credit. The R&D Tax Credit is a great incentive for U.S. based businesses that spend money on R&D, specifically small businesses.

Congress is meeting on November 13th and while both Republicans and Democrats are for the R&D tax credit hopefully they’ll put their political differences aside (yeah right) and get this thing passed before time runs out!

ASP.NET Connections in Las Vegas

I’m on the plane headed to Vegas for ASP.NET Connections. I’m giving 3 talks there:

  • ASP.NET 2.0 Tips & Tricks
  • Building Data Driven Web Applications
  • Building blogs.msdn.com

The 2.0 tips & tricks talk will be almost all demos (and no slides). We’ll cover everything from some basic tips and tricks to more advanced tips, such as background threading. Most of the tips & tricks are items gleaned directly from Community Server.

The Building Data Driven Web Applications talk will be the same one I gave at Tech-Ed 2006. I do plan on making some changes to the content, as it focuses mainly on building data driven applications that scale vs. specifically focusing on data features in ASP.NET.

The last talk, Building blogs.msdn.com, should be a fun session where we share some details on what it takes to build a site that support > 250MM impressions per-month. For what it’s worth a lot of this talk will deal with hardware, Community Server, and optimizations we made for our .NET application.

We also have a booth for CodeSmith, so please drop by and say hi!

Tomorrow we launch!

www.blogmailr.com

I don’t think it’s any great mystery as to what this is – but tomorrow we’re launching this site.

Building this application has really been a fun experience. We had a unique opportunity to put into practice a lot of really agile project management process around shipping. While it took us nearly 6 months to get the plumbing for this application “just right” it took us less than 15 days to put everything together.

So stay tuned to blogmailr.com because we launch in 1 more day!

Community Server Book

The first of several books is about to be released for Community Server. We worked with Anand on the book and it should provide a great introduction for people new to Community Server.

Our own Wyatt Preul is working on a book toomore details on that soon!
